There are two principal approaches:
The Paloh River and the Rajang River route:
The Paloh River route can be used by vessels of up to 152m length and with draughts of 6m. The average tidal variance on this route is about 2.7m.
The Rajang River route to Sibu is restricted to vessels of up to 61m long and draughts of 7m. Tidal variance at the Rajang entrance is about 3.4m.
Sarikei, Tanjung Manis ports and the Tanjung Manis anchorage are approached via the Rajang River route.
