花......Bush flower!

  為姐姐在南山的家除草,發現花園裡一種看來從不開花的,不知是花是草還是任何植物的花樹,開花了呢!這種花草在詩巫的路邊也很容易看到,大家知道這植物花是稱什么呢?
This bush- flower blossom last week at Nansang, Sibu.
Who can tell me what is the name of this plant?

问了诗巫植物大师杨诒钫,她说是朱蕉。明天诗华日报刚好有刊出她写的此植物报道也。

In English it is called Cordyline Terminals. They are grown for landscaping purposes in Hawaii and Thailand.
They also come in green and yellow. There are some white varieties too.
There is a good Foochow horticulturist Chien Pik Ung and he has a feature story in Borneo Post every week.
I usually depend on my Prof. Haji Mohammad for quick references.
Dr. Rita Manurung one of the daughters of our former Indonesian missionary Pastor Manurung is also a botanist. She is Chief Operation Officer of Borneo Diversity Centre.

It is always good to share knowledge. Your photos of beautiful plants and flowers of Sibu will constantly amaze us.

I forgot to mention also that this is the Ti plant. Remember when we used to play scrabble? at the end of the game we would have some tiles left...so we put in our tiles for TI or PI or IT or PA or MA...then we could finish all our last tiles...

smile....

CY,Thanks for your information. According to Chinese doctor the plant's flower can treat as a herbal tea as well.
Miss Yong from See Hua wrote an article about it yesterday.
Another mission for you is to write the biography of Pastor Manurung.
God Bless
