Naeri Methodist Church, Incheon, Korea韓國仁川市內里衛理教堂

The Naeri Church in Nae-dong, Jung-gu, constructed the first Methodist church in 1891 following the commencement of the missionary work of H.G. Appenzeller on July 19, 1885.

This church overcame various difficulties in the enlightenment period of Korea and played a pivotal role in the anti-Japanese movement including enlightening the local public and instilling patriotism. In 1892, the Naeri Church established the modern elementary education organization called Yeonghwa School, which produced many talented people who would eventually lead the enlightenment period of the nation.
