Brand!

Need to find out ..thread noodles are sold in bundles (trans. Foochow as......)Is it suoh ji?

When you dry suoh chok (a small bit) does it become suoh beng? or again suoh ji?

For a gentleman like you how much can you eat?

I have already lost some of my Foochow language!! :(

Chanyi,2nd or 3rd generation like us, foochow dielect already become An-r-lan(half backet of water半桶水).And you should know that Foochow with ten disticts so with 10 different accent, but in Sibu as well as Sarawak the majority Foochows from Minqin, Gutian and Pinan.
Anyway I think you are right, sometimes we use suok-ba. With chicken soup I can't consume too much, suok-ji-yian(smaller than suok-ji?)

Very interesting and educational.

I got suoh beng (for something flat)- suoh piang (for maggi mee) -suoh oon (for one chow chai)- suoh pien (for slice)

Foochow vocabulary is very detail and refine.

Wish I have the Foochow dictionary.

Thanks ML and Anonymous for your suggestions. Helpful.

Hi,Chanyi
I got one photocopied foochow dictionary, but the accent is according the foochow city. There are some difference with other foochow district!
Mr Toh, yes Mien Sien also call 長壽麵,but it always regard as 太平麵!? May be Chanyi can help?

May be The Methodist Book Room should order a few copies of Foochow Dictionary. Let's promote it.

Longevity Noodles (mien sien) is the preferred name on hotel menus. But I have not come across Tai Ping Mien. I have eaten Tai Ping Eggs soup though. May be that is the same if you add the longevity noodles to it!! Will find out more. It could have a Sitiawan origin.

By the way do you know that there is a young Fuzhou guy who is making waves in CCTV because he has created romanized Fuzhou handbook? He was interviewed not long ago.
