You seem to have a good trip - I must ask you for tips for my future trip!! It would be an eating, reading and photography trip for me....but I hope it won't become too prohibitive to travel there in the next few years....
Hi, Chanyi, Actually it is quite easy to travel in China, I saw a lot of Westerners bring lonelyplanet or rent a bicycle to tour around. So as a Chinese it would be no problem to travel by ourselves or backpack stye.The public transportation like bus and subway are very convenience. I think China will be more open in future, but if you want to do shopping you need to act as local, but in some secenary points you need to act as foreigner, that is my experience. If you want to travel by your own better within 4 in a group, it will be easy to get taxi if neccessary.
